Forget Me Always
(Lovely Vicious #2)
by Sara Wolf
Publication Date: November 1, 2016
Publisher: Entangled Teen

It’s been three years, twenty-five weeks, and five days since Isis Blake fell in love, and if she has it her way, it’ll stretch into infinity. Since then, she’s punched Jack Hunter—
her nemesis-turned-maybe-something-more—in the face, survived a brutal attack by her mom’s abusive ex thanks to Jack’s heroics, and then promptly forgotten all about him.

The one bright spot for Isis is Sophia, the ephemeral girl who shares Isis’s hospital stay as well as a murky past with Jack. But as Isis’s memories return, she finds it harder and
harder to resist what she felt for Jack, and Jack finds it impossible to stay away from the only girl who’s ever melted the ice around his heart.

As the dark secrets surrounding Sophia emerge, Isis realizes Jack isn’t who she thought he was. He’s dangerous. But when Isis starts receiving terrifying emails from an
anonymous source, that danger might be the only thing protecting her from something far more threatening.

Her past.

Seventeen-year-old Isis Blake hasn’t fallen in love in three years, nine weeks, and five days, and after what happened last time, she intends to keep it that way. Since then she’s lost eighty-five pounds, gotten four streaks of purple in her hair, and moved to Buttcrack-of-Nowhere, Ohio, to help her mom escape a bad relationship.

All the girls in her new school want one thing—Jack Hunter, the Ice Prince of East Summit High. Hot as an Armani ad, smart enough to get into Yale, and colder than the Arctic, Jack Hunter’s never gone out with anyone. Sure, people have seen him downtown with beautiful women, but he’s never given high school girls the time of day. Until Isis punches him in the face.

Jack’s met his match. Suddenly everything is a game.

The goal: Make the other beg for mercy.
The game board: East Summit High.
The reward: Something neither of them expected.

Guest Post:

Do the characters all come to you at the same time or do some of them come to you as you write?

Hey guys! Thanks for having me. Did everyone have a good and spooky Halloween? J My characters are definitely split down the middle in terms of coming to me or all at the same time – sometimes I have a full cast in my head, but usually I don’t, and this is where my regular method comes into play. It’s a little confusing, but I hope it makes sense for you! Let’s get into it.

My characters sort of form around one central character, in this case, Isis. I knew I wanted a sassy and strong heroine who would give everyone in her new town hell, and that required a certain type of character. From there, it’s about giving that main character other characters who balance her; for instance, Jack. He’s cold, calculated, and withdrawn, the complete opposite of Isis. Kayla is charming and confident in her looks, something Isis is definitely not. Wren is calm, kind, and reasonable, also things Isis sometimes lacks. Together, they all teach the main character something, and help add contrast to the tableau. Of course, Isis contrasts them all by being brave, loud-mouthed, insecure, and a wit-queen.

Sometimes a main character doesn’t come to me right away, and in that case I’ll usually write several chapters to get a feel of them and let them develop naturally. That’s how it’s going in my next book, a dark YA fantasy called BRING ME THEIR HEARTS, about a girl who has no heart but is out to steal the crown Prince’s. Literally. This character has gone through equally horrific things as Isis did, if not more so, and I really have to carefully balance that seriousness with the new character’s wit, determination, and a tendency to martyrdom. Every new book written is a new main character and a new cast flowering out around them, and that’s one of the best parts of being a writer; getting to see everything bloom around your central idea.

I hope that made sense. Every writer’s method is different, and I’ve been told mine can be sort of weird, but it works for me! Whatever works for you, do it. That’s my motto. Thank you so much for having me, and have a wonderful holiday season!

Sara Wolf is a twenty-something author who adores baking, screaming at her cats, and screaming at herself while she types hilarious things. When she was a kid, she was too busy eating dirt to write her first terrible book. Twenty years later, she picked up a keyboard and started mashing her fists on it and created the monster known as the Lovely Vicious series. She lives in San Diego with two cats, a crippling-yet-refreshing sense of self-doubt, and not enough fruit tarts ever.
